Yes, you can absolutely grow indoors. If you have less than 6 hours of direct sun, limited outdoor space, or if it's feeling like sweater weather, your Farmstand might be ready to move indoors. Our Glow Rings are the perfect companion for your Farmstand and will give your greens, herbs, and veggies plenty of light to grow and give you fresh healthy produce throughout the year!

We want to make sure you're set up for success before you start growing with us. Here's what you need to have the best growing experience:

A Sunny Outdoor Spot: Plants grow best with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day (or 14 hours with indoor growing lights).
4 Square Feet of Level Space: Your Farmstand's footprint is 22" x 22" but we recommend a 2' x 2' area to ensure easy access to your plants.
Power & Water Access: The Farmstand needs continuous power and frequent water refills. We recommend plugging your Farmstand into a GFCI outlet or using a GFCI outlet adapter whenever a water source is present.

You'll also need to set aside 5 minutes each week for simple maintenance tasks like adding water & nutrients, testing & adjusting the pH of your water, planting new seedlings, and harvesting! Yum!

We start your seedlings (200+ varieties!) in our greenhouses to give you a head start growing and harvesting food for your table. Your seedlings are 3-4 weeks old when they arrive at your door and we've done the hard part: sowing and nurturing them so they're strong and healthy. We watch over them and keep extra seedlings on hand in case the occasional seed doesn't germinate or in case we find a seedling that just doesn't look strong enough to make it to harvest. When the weather cools down, our seedlings centers adjust planting dates to make sure we have the right size seedlings when you need them.

For optimal safety, all seedlings are in restricted access areas. The only people who come into contact with our seedlings are our trained farmers. Our farmers wear masks and gloves and use hand sanitizer when handling seedlings and packaging materials.

We only use non-GMO seeds and organic whenever possible. We evaluate our selections for consistency in vigor, growing ease, hardiness, and flavor. We hope you like them!

We recommend placing your Farmstand on a mat or drip tray if you are growing indoors. This will protect your floor from any spills when you are filling up your Farmstand. Additionally, plant roots can sometimes buildup inside of the Farmstand which can redirect water outside. This can be prevented by checking your Farmstand daily and routinely trimming your plants’ roots using a GFCI outlet adapter whenever a water source is present.

If you notice a leak make sure there is enough slack in the Glow Rings™ power cord inside your tank. The cord should be positioned so that it loops down before it enters through the tank gasket using a GFCI outlet adapter whenever a water source is present.

Each week, you will need to top off your Farmstand's water and add nutrients in addition to testing and adjusting the pH of the water in your Farmstand. You can read more about this process here and download the Lettuce Grow app to receive weekly maintenance reminders!

Every 3 - 4 months, we recommend resetting your Farmstand. A reset is when you thoroughly clean your Farmstand by removing all of the plants, taking everything apart and cleaning each piece. This helps to prevent pests and disease, root and debris accumulation, and prepares your Farmstand with new seedlings for the upcoming season. You can learn more about resetting your Farmstand here.
