Is the Lettuce Grow app free?
Yes, our companion app is completely free! It automatically tracks the plants on your Farmstand and notifies you when they're ready to harvest. This way, you receive personalized growing tips and timely alerts.
How much do seedlings cost?
Lettuce Grow seedlings are $2.99 each, or $2.49 when purchased in a grow pack. Lettuce Grow is the only hydroponic system that offers living, 2-3 week old pre-germinated seedlings.
How proficient of a gardener do I need to be?
Our system is designed for individuals who have even struggled with succulents or common houseplants. No prior gardening skills are necessary—our guarantee is that you'll enjoy bountiful harvests within just 2-3 weeks.
Can my dog or cat get into it?
We hear it all the time— “I’d love this, but I’m worried my dog will knock it over,” or “My cat’s definitely jumping on that.”
Good news: the Farmstand is very sturdy. It’s weighted with water, so it won’t tip, even if your pup zooms by or your cat gets curious. Most pets lose interest after a quick sniff.
One note for pet parents: While most of our plants are pet-safe, some (like chives or certain flowers) can be toxic if ingested. If you’ve got a determined chewer, just double-check the plant before adding it to your stand or place it where paws can’t reach.
Can you grow your own seeds or medicinal herbs like cannabis or hemp?
Yes, you can. Many people grow their own seeds, including herbs, veggies, and even medicinal plants like cannabis or hemp where legal. You’ll just need to use a compatible growing medium like coconut coir or peat moss pods. While we don’t offer support specific to those crops, the system itself is flexible enough to grow them.
How do I clean the Farmstand, and how often?
Resetting your Farmstand each season is easier than a traditional garden. No tilling, no mess, no guesswork. Just one gentle clean every 3-4 months. Sip your tea, wipe it down, and plant something fresh. Self-care never looked or tasted this good.
How long can I keep seedlings on the Farmstand
The duration varies by variety, but generally, you can keep each seedling on the Farmstand for 6-8 weeks.
How much maintenance does it require?
The Farmstand requires only about 15 minutes of maintenance per week. Simply top off the water reservoir, add nutrients, and periodically test and adjust the pH. Additionally, every three months, we recommend performing a water reset and system cleaning, which takes approximately 30 minutes.
How much produce can it grow?
You can grow the following number of plants at a time depending on the size of your Farmstand: Small: 18 plants Medium: 24 plants Large: 36 plants Nook: 20 plants Many of our seedlings are pre-sprouted and can be ready to harvest as quickly as 3 weeks. Vegetable plants may take longer to mature but can continue to produce over many weeks once they reach maturity.
How much power does it use?
Not much at all. Our indoor Farmstands use around 75 watts- that’s less than a standard lightbulb.
How do I know when and how to harvest?
Harvesting is simple and flexible with two main methods:
Cut and Come Again: Ideal for herbs and leafy greens. Harvest what you need, and the plant will continue to grow.
Whole Plant Harvesting: Best for plants like cabbage or cauliflower. Remove the entire plant when fully matured.
