Nothing beats a little lovin' from the oven.

Getting out of bed on a weekend morning is a heckuva lot easier when there's a big pan of warm biscuits waiting. These up the ante with the addition of bacon, sharp cheddar, and flecks of herbs. And, bonus: you'll discover a newfound love for your grater!

INGREDIENTS

6

scallions (bunching onions), minced

1/4 c

parsley, chopped

4

strips bacon, cooked & crumbled

1/3 c

sharp cheddar, grated

3 c

all-purpose flour

1 tsp

salt

1 Tbsp

baking powder

3 Tbsp

sugar

6 Tbsp

butter

1 c

milk

INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1

Preheat oven to 425.

Step 2

Mix together the dry ingredients. Use a grater to grate cold butter into dry ingredients. Use your hands to toss until butter is evenly distributed.

Step 3

Add bacon, scallions, cheese, and parsley and toss again.

Step 4

Add the milk, all at once, mixing quickly and gently for about 20 seconds until you have a soft dough. If mixture seems too dry, add a little more milk, but dough should be fairly stiff.

Step 5

On a lightly floured surface, pat dough out to a rough rectangle about 1" thick. Fold into thirds like a letter, then pat out again, turn dough and repeat. Use a fairly light touch through this process. Pat out again to about 1" thick, then cut into 12 squares.

Step 6

Place onto buttered baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
