Get to Know Serrano Pepper
Flavor
Trying to gauge your serrano harvest’s heat before you cook? As a rule of thumb, the average Serrano Pepper is two to five times as intense as a jalapeño. Consider these the perfect spice-lover’s substitute, with a touch of earthy flavor.
Plant Care
This variety boasts surprising size, with peppers measuring up to 5 inches long. The good news? With proper nutrients, seedlings will yield peppers even more quickly than some of the serrano’s smaller cousins.
Health Benefits
Serrano peppers are standout sources of Vitamin A, which supports a healthy immune system and promotes healthy cell growth. You’ll also get plenty of fiber and a host of heart health benefits.
Get to Know Carmen Pepper
Flavor
Plot twist! Carmen Peppers may look spicy, but they’re actually a sweet Italian variety. (Think red bell peppers, with even more flavor.) Try roasting or grilling your crop to celebrate their full potential.
Plant Care
While Carmen Peppers turn a brilliant red by harvest time, they actually begin green. Expect each pepper to reach about 6” long, and get excited: These beauties thrive both indoors and out.
Health Benefits
Like other sweet varieties, Carmen peppers are full of Vitamin C and antioxidant-rich carotenoids. Eat up!
