We know how frustrating a water leak can be! Here’s how to identify the issue and what steps to take based on your setup and what’s happening.
When does the leak happen? 🔍
First, check if the leak happens:
- Only while the pump is running
- When the pump is off
This tells you where to look next!
If the leak happens when the pump is OFF:
This usually points to an issue with the tank. Check for:
- Cracks or hairline fractures
- Water pooling around the seam (where the top and bottom of the tank join)
What to do:
Send us a few clear photos of your tank. Especially the seam, gasket, and any area where water appears. We’ll help determine next steps!
If the leak happens DURING the irrigation cycle:
There are a few possible causes depending on your Farmstand model.
For All Models:
Grow Cups: Make sure each port has a grow cup and that it’s fully seated.
Plant Roots or Stems: Extra-long roots or stems can wick water out of the unit.
Plastic Cracks: Check for damage to the levels or tank.
For Indoor & Outdoor Farmstands:
Splash Guard: This clear plastic film on top of the tank should lie flat. If it’s bent, misaligned, or torn, water can spill out.
Gasket: A worn, missing, or pinched rubber gasket can lead to a leak.
For Indoor Farmstands:
Glow Ring Cord: Make sure it forms a “J” shape inside the tank and levels to avoid wicking.

For the Nook:
Overwatering is a common cause! Make sure you are following the recommended watering schedule: 2 mins ON / 58 mins OFF
Ask yourself:
- When was your last quarterly reset?
- Are roots possibly clogging your irrigation channels?
Also check:
- Gasket placement
- Internal cable routing

- Grow cup & sleeve fit

- Assembly of growing levels

Still not sure? We’re here to help! Reach out with your photos and as much info as you can. Tip: Try to catch where the water first appears dripping, pooling, or trickling.
