Growing lush greens, veggies, and herbs in your Lettuce Grow Farmstand is THE most luxurious and rewarding experience until you notice one too many flies buzzing around the house. However, there’s no need to worry– Arber’s got you covered.
So What’s the Buzz?
Semi-hydroponic systems have transformed indoor greenspaces for so many gardeners because they alleviate the need for soil, which takes care of most plant pests. However, soilless mediums in semi-hydroponic systems must stay consistently damp to preserve the water roots of your plants. Inevitably, this excess moisture around your plants’ roots will attract fungus gnats.
Speaking from experience, fungus gnats are the absolute worst because a few gnats can turn into a full-blown infestation in the blink of an eye and completely sour the joy of having a Lettuce Grow Farmstand indoors. Additionally, gnats can be difficult to control because you’re eating what you’re growing– you have to be more mindful of what you use to treat this problem.
This is why the Lettuce Grow team fell in love with using Arber’s Biological Concentrates for our plant care needs.
How to Use Arber to Treat Fungus Gnats
Arber Biological Concentrates can be mixed into custom wellness treatments for your plants. In this case, grab their Bio Fungicide and Bio Insecticide. The Bio Fungicide will kill the fungus on which fungus gnats thrive, and the Bio Insecticide will take care of the pests themselves. The treatment is simple to mix; here’s how to use it:
With biologicals, it’s always best to use them preventatively when possible. Once the seedlings are set up in your farmstand, spray foliage and the exposed area of the growing medium to ward off fungus and those pesky gnats. If you have grow lights installed, turn them off before treating and keep them off until the solution has dried. (Direct light can burn damp leaves.) Repeat this process every 2 weeks for best results.
If you need to treat an infestation– no worries! Arber can still work for you. Spray foliage and the exposed area of the growing medium every 3-5 days until the infestation is under control. If you have grow lights installed, turn them off before treating and keep them off until the solution has dried. (Direct light can burn damp leaves.) From there, treat every 2 weeks for best results.
