1. Where should I place my Farmstand?
For best results, choose a level area with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight, near water and power sources. Growing indoors? Pair the original Farmstand with Glow Rings, or enjoy year-round indoor harvests with the Farmstand Nook.
2. How much space does the Farmstand need?
The Farmstand takes up about a 2’ x 2’ area (the Nook requires slightly less). Be sure you can access all sides for harvesting and cleaning. If your floor isn’t level, add shims for stability.
3. What type of power source is required?
A GFCI outlet or adapter is needed to safely power the internal water pump. If your nearest outlet is far away, an outdoor-rated extension cord works well.
4. How often do I need to water the Farmstand?
Indoors, both the Farmstand (20.5-gallon tank) and the Nook (9-gallon tank) typically need refilling about once a week. In hotter outdoor weather, you may need to top off more often. The size and number of plants also make a difference—larger, thirstier plants will use water more quickly.
💡 Planning a vacation? A full tank can last anywhere from 1–6 weeks depending on model, plant size, and weather. With a little prep, your Farmstand can keep thriving while you’re away.
5. Can I grow indoors without sunlight?
Both the Farmstand and the Nook are designed for indoor use—but they do need proper lighting. The original Farmstand requires Glow Rings, which provide the full spectrum and duration of light your plants need. The Farmstand Nook comes with integrated LED lights already built in, so you’re set for year-round growth without relying on window light or ambient indoor lighting.
6. What are common mistakes to avoid?
- Placing in shady spots or under overhangs.
- Choosing a location with less than 6 hours of direct sun (or not using Grow Lights/Nook LEDs indoors).
- Setting it up far from your kitchen, which makes fresh harvests less convenient.
7. What happens if my plants don't get enough sunlight?
Without enough light, plants may stretch tall and thin—this is called becoming “leggy.” Unfortunately, leggy plants can’t recover, so it’s best to replace them and adjust your setup by moving to a sunnier location, adding Glow Rings, or relying on the Nook’s built-in LEDs..
