Water is not reaching the roots

A dry plant base means water is not getting to the roots. Work through these checks one at a time.

Steps to resolve

  1. Remove a neighboring plant and look inside while the pump is running, water should fall directly onto each plant base
  2. Make sure the plant sits fully at the bottom of the grow cup and the cup is pushed completely into the hole, a loose fit means water misses the roots
  3. Check for root clogs, long roots from plants above can block the drain holes, clear any blockages you find
  4. Check your water level and top off the tank regularly, even one extra gallon a week helps prevent imbalance and algae
  5. Remove the lid and confirm water is reaching the very top of the Farmstand, if not check that all PVC pipes are fully connected and the pump is running, you should hear a faint hum
  6. In hot or cold weather plants dry out faster, double check that your timer settings are right for your environment
