Harvesting tips

Growing up to 24", this basil can quickly grow lanky, a condition that will worsen as it tries to flower. To curtail this tendency, pinch or cut stalks as they grow past 6 - 8" to encourage side shoot production and make the plant bushier. When harvesting, make sure to leave around 4" of stalk from the base where new leaves and branches can grow.

It's easy with the Farmstand

Our self-watering, self-fertilizing hydroponic system takes all the guesswork out of growing your own veggies.

    So Far So Good

It's been just over a week after getting the seedlings in the water. The basil is about doubled in size and thriving. I expect to be able to pluck first leaves within the week. This is a great alternative to my outdoor herb garden that was dying in the LA heat and also suffered during travel.

    Nice growth

The basil plant is doing well. I did not use it in my current Counterstand, but in another hydroponic system that I have.
