Harvesting tips

Harvest when lettuce head begins to form and fills out. Check for bunching with a gentle squeeze and harvest immediately if bunch begins to elongate.

When grown indoors, Green Oakleaf should be fully harvested earlier (around 3 weeks of growing) to avoid bolting.

It's easy with the Farmstand

    Yum!

This lettuce has been in my stand for over a month and is doing great. It is JUST NOW starting to try to bolt but I keep "cutting" and coming again and it still has good flavor.

Tip for newer growers (and this isn't just for Oakleaf Lettuce), keep those outer/lower leaves trimmed up so that they don't lay on the extensions. More airflow is good and keeps it from getting moldy under there. I had an issue with my endive recently that was solved by keeping the leaves from laying on the extensions.

This is a hearty producer growing on my indoor tower.
