Shishito Peppers

Fire up the grill: there’s nothing like a slightly charred shishito pepper.

Your barbecue has found a blistering new best friend. Mild shishito peppers char effortlessly when roasted or grilled, making for a sweet plant-based centerpiece - with an occasionally spicy twist. Once they’re three to five inches long, crisp and green, we cook ours quickly, with plenty of heat. Don’t forget complements like lemon juice, olive oil, and sea salt.

Harvesting tips

Peppers love sunlight so plant this variety on the top level of your Farmstand or somewhere it will get as much sun exposure as possible. Fruit will be ready to harvest when they are green and 2" - 4" however they can be left on the plant until they are orange or red for a sweeter flavor (this usually takes 2 -4 weeks longer). Harvest the first set of peppers promptly to stimulate further fruit production.
